Alexandria Venture Investments is the strategic corporate venture platform of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., established in 1996. The parent’s current website also presents the platform as Alexandria Ventures®. SEC parent filings explicitly identify Alexandria Venture Investments, LLC as a Delaware subsidiary. This retained venture profile is distinct from the operating REIT, real-estate partnerships, individual principals and undisclosed transaction-specific affiliates. Parent real-estate ownership or tenancy alone does not establish a venture cash investment. The current published venture-linked leadership includes founder Joel S. Marcus; Hallie E. Kuhn and Jenna Foger, who co-lead Life Science and manage venture activities; and Blake L. Stevens, whose explicitly published investment remit covers Research Triangle portfolio oversight and the national agtech strategy. Blake’s regional role is retained without inventing an overall third co-lead title. Onn C. Lee’s shared corporate accounting function expressly includes the venture investment portfolio and is identified as support rather than a separate investment partner. January 2026 promotions are month-only facts, with exact role dates left unknown. Other parent directors and property executives are not automatically assigned to this unit. It invests from seed through growth in life sciences, diagnostics, research tools, agtech and enabling technology. Primary examples establish direct relevance to AI and neuroscience: BigHat’s September 2026 financing names Alexandria and describes AI protein design; Iambic’s November 2025 financing names Alexandria and describes AI discovery/development; QurAlis’ original 2018 seed announcement identifies Alexandria in ALS therapeutics; and the manager’s 2019 release establishes a seed investment in Holobiome’s nervous-system microbiome programme. These are source-qualified research and investment relationships, not independent clinical efficacy or regulatory approval findings. Its seed-capital programme was announced as a USD10–25 million target in 2016, formally launched as the Seed Capital Platform in January 2018, and is currently presented as the Alexandria Strategic Capital Platform. These sources establish a functioning co-investment programme and advisory framework, rather than proving a separately closed pooled LP vehicle or an exact paid-in fundraising total. The roughly USD1.5 billion reported under management, December 2022 adjusted cost basis of USD1.2 billion and unrealized gains of USD506 million are distinct portfolio/accounting metrics. Parent bond offerings, market capitalization and real-estate financing are not fund cash closes of this unit. No unsupported LP fundraising record is created.
