Avalon BioVentures

Avalon BioVentures is a San Diego biotechnology venture investor and company builder focused on first-in-class therapeutics and early scientific opportunities, including neurodegenerative diseases. Its ABV Accelerator provides laboratory space in La Jolla’s Torrey Pines research area, scientific leadership, operating executives and shared finance, HR and other business services to young biotechnology companies. The life-science-focused firm emerged from Avalon Ventures, whose earlier funds also invested in technology; these are distinct organizations and historical Avalon portfolio companies are not automatically investments of the newer ABV I fund. Avalon BioVentures announced the close of its first dedicated biotech fund, ABV I, at USD135 million on December 6, 2022. It co-founded Arialys Therapeutics and participated in its USD58 million September 2023 seed financing.
