University of Oxford
Oxford, United Kingdom
The University of Oxford is the statutory civil corporation legally named The Chancellor Masters and Scholars of the University of Oxford, formally incorporated by the 1571 Act for Incorporation of Both Universities. It is an exempt charity under the Charities Act 2011, regulated principally by the Office for Students, and has no Royal Charter or Charity Commission registration number. Its legal, academic and investment identity is distinct from the technology-transfer subsidiary Oxford University Innovation, the independent investment company Oxford Science Enterprises, Oxford University Innovation Fund and Oxford Seed Fund. Oxford conducts and translates research in artificial intelligence, computing, engineering, quantum technologies, biomedical science and neuroscience. Its October 2026 senior officer roster includes Chancellor William Hague, Vice-Chancellor and anaesthetic-neuroscience professor Irene Tracey, and seven portfolio Pro-Vice-Chancellors. Heidi Johansen-Berg leads Strategic Initiatives and researches brain plasticity; biomedical engineer Constantin Coussios leads Innovation. The profile covers published university senior officers and the dated July 24, 2026 leadership reporting chart, with September 2026 appointments reconciled against the current roster, rather than every university employee. The University can own founding equity and make actual follow-on company investments. Its policy generally allocates founding equity 80% to the founding team and 20% to the University, with some 90:10 cases, before fundraising and without anti-dilution protection; this policy is not proof of a particular company cash check or an unchanged present ownership percentage. Oxford Science Enterprises receives part of applicable university founding stakes under a separate partnership. Oxford Endovascular explicitly names the University itself as an actual following investor in its April 2021 Series A and May 2024 Series A+ rounds. Those issuer-confirmed investments are recorded under this institutional identity without duplicate subsidiary or personal-officer attribution. University budgets, endowment assets, spinout portfolio valuation, fundraising across its spinout ecosystem and grants received for academic research are not private LP venture-fund closes. No undisclosed institution ticket or blanket cash portfolio is inferred.
