Longwood Fund
Longwood Fund is a Boston-based life sciences venture capital firm founded in 2010 that builds biotechnology companies and invests in therapeutics from early company formation through clinical development. Its team combines venture investing, scientific diligence, company creation and operating support, with dedicated early-stage and growth-stage investment activity. Its neuroscience portfolio includes Newleos Therapeutics, Engrail Therapeutics and Progentos Therapeutics. The current public directory lists 16 staff and venture partners, supported by 20 living members of a Strategic Advisory Board. Christoph Westphal is co-founder and general partner; Rich Aldrich is co-founder and partner. In May 2023, Longwood announced USD180 million committed to its sixth fund and related vehicles; its July 2020 fifth-fund announcement reported approximately USD170 million including two related incubator funds. These are aggregate commitments, with individual legal fund sizes not separately disclosed in those announcements.
