Neurala

Neurala, Inc. is a Boston-based developer of brain-inspired vision AI for embedded and industrial products. Founded in 2006 by neuroscientists Max Versace, Heather Ames and Anatoli Gorchet, it commercialized research supported by NASA, DARPA and the US Air Force. Its patented Lifelong Deep Neural Network (L-DNN) uses complementary learning approaches inspired by the neocortex and hippocampus to support visual learning from limited examples and continued adaptation on edge devices. The current business licenses and integrates this technology into OEM hardware, software and manufacturing inspection systems; VIA is its industrial visual-inspection offering. The company publishes applications with FLIR, Sony Semiconductor Solutions and IHI, and identifies its headquarters at 308 Congress Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02210. A European subsidiary in Trieste is distinct from the Boston parent. The current public leadership directory identifies Anatoli Gorchet as co-founder, CEO and CTO; Max Versace is a co-founder and former CEO, with subsequent work at Analog Devices. Historical consumer robotics, drone and automotive applications are part of its development history. This company is distinct from Neurala Biosciences at neurala.co and Neura Robotics. Financing announcements establish separate $750,000 seed, $1.2 million follow-on, $14 million Series A and $12 million later financing events; cumulative fundraising figures are not additional rounds. Clinical treatment or regulatory clearance is not claimed for its industrial AI platform.
