Engine Biosciences
Engine Biosciences is a Singapore and Silicon Valley biotechnology company applying machine learning and experimental genetics to discover precision oncology medicines and patient-selection biomarkers. Its NetMAPPR network-biology platform combines computational analysis with data from the CombiGEM combinatorial CRISPR system, enabling experimental tests of predicted genetic interactions. The work includes synthetic-lethal cancer targets and preclinical therapeutic programmes; these are research and development activities, not approved cancer treatments. The website’s legal notice identifies Engine Biosciences Pte Ltd and its affiliate Engine Biosciences Inc. Investor EDBI’s contemporaneous 2018 announcement dates the business’s founding to2015. The current October2026 homepage remains active but no longer publishes the team or programme directory. The latest recovered original directory, archived April16,2026, names20 people across management, board, board observers and scientific advisers. It identifies co-founder Jeffrey Lu as CEO, Robert Abraham as CSO and Yaron Turpaz as CIO; their roles are last confirmed in that directory rather than assumed from a withdrawn current roster. Historical co-founder Daphne Teo is separately documented in the2018 announcement. David M. Epstein’s archived interim R&D role is marked historical because the company subsequently announced his death. Scientific founders and advisers include Timothy Lu, James Collins, Prashant Mali, Hu Li and Martin Kampmann. Three independently documented completed financings are retained: USD10M seed January31,2018; USD43M SeriesA May26,2021; and an additional USD27M SeriesA extension October31,2023. The2023 issuer reports USD70M total SeriesA and USD86M cumulative financing; neither aggregate is an extra round, and an unexplained difference from individually announced rounds is not inferred as cash. Secondary2026 financing reports remain pending primary filing or issuer verification.
