UntroD Capital Japan

Tokyo-based deep-tech investment manager that commercializes research and technology through the Real Tech Fund platform, launched in 2015. Formerly branded Real Tech Holdings, it adopted the UntroD name in June 2024. The Japanese manager backs university and research-institute spinouts in biotechnology, energy, advanced materials, aerospace, electronics, agriculture and marine technology, providing lead investments and hands-on support for commercialization, partnerships, talent, intellectual property and international growth. Its Japanese strategy spans seed and early-stage equity funds, a crossover impact fund jointly operated with Nomura Asset Management that supports companies before and after IPO, and a venture-debt fund for early and middle-stage R&D businesses. UntroD Capital Asia is a separate Singapore group entity.

  • UntroD Crossover Impact Fund 2—

    Second Japanese crossover impact fund, with its first close announced September 1, 2026 and size undisclosed. Operated by UntroD Capital Japan in collaboration with Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management, it invests in final private financings and IPO cornerstone allocations of late-stage Japanese research-driven and other high-impact startups, retaining ownership after listing. Sectors include healthcare, biotechnology, space, sensing, robotics, agriculture, marine systems, climate and energy, electronics and advanced materials. Its operating period begins September 2026 and runs for up to eight years and four months, with a possible two-year extension. First-close partners are Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management, Resona Bank, Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank, Kiyo Bank and Matsui Securities. Its legal name is UntroDクロスオーバーインパクトファンド2号投資事業有限責任組合 and GP is the corresponding LLP. Group cumulative managed capital of ¥50 billion is not this fund’s size. The first fund’s existing portfolio is separate from Fund 2.

  • UntroD Real Tech Debt Fund—

    Japanese deep-tech venture-debt fund whose first close was announced June 29, 2026; the announcement does not disclose its size. It lends to research-driven startups, primarily at early and middle stages, to diversify financing beyond equity and support R&D and commercialization. The fund collaborates with regional financial institutions and public-sector partners to assess technology-company risks and circulate local capital into regional innovation. Its five-year operating period began in June 2026, with a possible two-year extension. Its GP is UntroD Real Tech Debt Fund LLP; named partners are Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking, REVIC, Nagano Credit Cooperative, Nishi-Nippon City Bank and Hanno Shinkin Bank. Debt financings are not equity investment rounds.

  • UntroD Nomura Crossover Impact Fund¥5.15B

    Japanese crossover impact fund with a ¥5.155 billion final close announced August 12, 2025, following its ¥4 billion first close in December 2024. Jointly operated by UntroD Capital Japan and Nomura Asset Management through the UntroD Nomura Crossover Impact Fund LLP, it provides long-term capital to late-stage startups through final private rounds and IPO cornerstone investments, retaining holdings after listing. It targets healthcare, biotechnology, space, sensing, robotics, agriculture, marine systems, climate and energy, electronics and materials, alongside other businesses with substantial social impact. The operating period began in December 2024, for up to eight years with a possible two-year extension. Its legal name is UntroD野村クロスオーバーインパクトファンド投資事業有限責任組合.

  • Real Tech Fund 4 Limited Partnership¥12.5B

    Fourth Japanese Real Tech Fund, with a final close of approximately ¥12.5 billion announced April 18, 2025. Its operating period began in October 2023 and runs for about ten years, with a possible three-year extension. It invests mainly at seed and early stage, with some middle-stage investments, in Japanese research-driven startups working on biotechnology, aerospace, electronics, agriculture and marine systems, environment and energy, and advanced materials. The fund acts as a lead investor and provides hands-on commercialization and international expansion support. The July 2024 second close and ¥13 billion target concern this same vehicle. Its Japanese legal name is リアルテックファンド4号投資事業有限責任組合.
