Sontag Innovation Fund

The Sontag Innovation Fund is a venture philanthropy subsidiary of The Sontag Foundation, established in 2021 to advance technologies for the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure of brain cancer. It supports early-stage, high-risk therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices and other technologies, using loans and equity investments in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. It seeks to recover principal to recycle capital toward its charitable mission. Managing Director Scott Davis, Ph.D., manages venture philanthropy and impact investments; Life Sciences Associate Justin Siemann, Ph.D., conducts scientific due diligence, market analysis, financial modeling and portfolio management. Its public directory lists eleven current companies and one exit: Modifi Bio, acquired by Merck in October 2024. Current holdings include Myosin Therapeutics, AiM Medical Robotics, Alpheus Medical, Altido Therapeutics, Cordance Medical, EnClear Therapies, FYR Bio, Kiyatec, MimiVax, TippingPoint Biosciences and Telo Therapeutics. Myosin explicitly named the fund as a participant in its second seed financing announced in February 2025. The 2021 fund launch is distinct from the parent foundation's establishment in 2002. The profile uses the official shared foundation branding displayed on the fund's website.
