AfterWork Ventures
New South Wales, Australia · Australia and New Zealand investment focus
AfterWork Ventures is an Australian community-powered venture capital manager investing at pre-seed and seed stages, with an Australia and New Zealand focus and some global investments. The exact operating entity is AfterWork Ventures Pty Ltd, ACN 650085251 and ABN 36650085251, active in the Australian Business Register from 8 July 2021. Its own regulatory footer identifies corporate authorised representative 1288519 of Boutique Capital Pty Ltd, ACN 621697621, under AFSL 508011; that licensing relationship does not make Boutique Capital a subscribing buyer in AfterWork portfolio companies. The manager launched professionally in March 2021, following a community micro-fund raised in November 2019; legal registration, professional launch and earlier angel activity are distinguished. Its published core team is partners Alex Khor and Adrian Petersen, creative director Bella Acton (also publicly Annabel Acton), and venture partners Adam Smith and Mike Forster. The site separately publishes an operator community supporting sourcing, due diligence and portfolio companies. Community membership is not automatic operating employment, membership does not prove a personal investment, and undated outside-company titles are retained as historical/source-published context. Former partner Jessy Wu publicly described leaving in July 2024; older 2021–2022 team material is not used to make her a current partner. The published count of over 100 or 120 operators is not turned into a private unnamed staff list. Own primary sources identify historical Fund I and Fund II and the professional AfterWork Fund III. Fund III announced an actual first close on 16 August 2021 after reaching AUD 10 million in commitments. AUD 30 million was the fundraising target; the first close is not a final AUD 30 million cash close. The investor page’s AUD 20 million funds under management and 54 investments is an undated historical snapshot accompanied by an August 2022 application deadline, not evidence of a new fund close or current 2026 AUM. Fund I/II amounts, legal subscribing vehicle names and closing days remain unpublished in the reviewed primary sources. Its own investment note explicitly identifies AfterWork as a pre-seed investor in Samphire Neuroscience alongside HAX; the note was published 25 January 2022, without proving that date as cash closing or an individual ticket. This establishes relevance to women’s-health neurotechnology. The portfolio and investment notes also include AI companies such as OfferFit, PropHero, SwingVision and Avarni. The 2021 OfferFit note distinguishes AfterWork’s May 2021 pre-Series A investment from the later Canvas-led USD 14 million Series A; the manager later announced its exit following acquisition by Braze. Portfolio affiliation is not asserted to be a current unexited holding. Neuroscience product claims are company/manager descriptions rather than unconditional medical-efficacy or approval assertions. Actual issuer participations are imported only against source-proven records, and missing issuers are queued for complete profiles rather than bare placeholders.
