Philip Starr
Philip A. Starr is an external consultant to Echo Neurotechnologies, as disclosed in a2026 scientific publication, and a UCSF neurosurgeon specialising in movement disorders and implanted neurostimulation. He is a professor of neurological surgery and holds the Dolores Cakebread Chair. His research investigates motor-network physiology and adaptive deep brain stimulation using chronically implanted bidirectional interfaces. He earned his medical degree at Harvard, completed neurosurgery training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a movement-disorders fellowship at Emory. The consulting relationship is distinct from employment, board membership or an equity investment; academic and clinical grants are not Echo company cash.
