Edward Chang

Edward F. Chang is a co-founder of Echo Neurotechnologies, independently disclosed by UCSF and his published scientific work. He is a neurosurgeon and UCSF’s Joan and Sanford Weill Chair of Neurological Surgery, specialising in brain mapping, speech and motor preservation, epilepsy and implantable neurotechnology. His research examines neural mechanisms of speech, movement and emotion, and he co-directs the UCSF/UC Berkeley Center for Neural Engineering and Prostheses. He earned his medical degree and completed neurosurgery training at UCSF, following chemistry studies at Amherst. He was elected to the National Academies of Medicine and Sciences in2020 and2025. Academic research funding and experimental clinical results are distinct from Echo corporate financing and market approval.
