WearWorks

Brooklyn, New York, United States

WearWorks, Inc. is the Brooklyn haptic technology company now operating the Haptic brand. Its former wear.works domain redirects to haptic.works, whose privacy policy retains WearWorks. The company develops tactile communication and accessible navigation through its HapticNav phone/Apple Watch app and enterprise SDK, Wayband wrist device, and HapticLab vibration-design tools. Its HapticAI page describes machine-learning-assisted HapticCorridor navigation and adaptive vibration feedback. These are company product claims, rather than independently validated performance benchmarks or a medical-device authorisation. The technology communicates through touch and skin sensory receptors; no implant, brain-computer-interface approval or treatment claim is inferred. Pratt’s May2018 primary report names three industrial-design alumni co-founders: Kevin Yoo, Keith Kirkland and Yangyang Wang. The current linked team page names CEO Kevin H Yoo, Chief Haptics Officer Keith Kirkland, operations lead Enzo Caruso and three advisers. An older unlinked team page additionally names three software/design staff and accessibility adviser Frances West; those affiliations are explicitly source-aged, with current status unconfirmed. Wang’s founding role is historical, with no presumed present executive position. The company’s own current team account, TED and Pratt describe a blind runner navigating15miles of the2017 NYC Marathon using tactile feedback, not a complete unaided marathon. NSF award1746671 records USD225000 obligated for SBIR PhaseI research into a wearable haptic navigation device for blind and visually impaired users, notice18December2017 and project start1January2018. This research award is distinct from equity proceeds and bank disbursement. Quake Capital’s own portfolio proves backing but its Seed category does not disclose a priced round, date, check or subscribing fund. A firsthand Rutgers account published20September2021 separately reports a USD10000 CUEED pitch award, USD25000 Black and Latino Angel Investment Fund of New Jersey investment, and USD115000 additional unnamed syndicate financing. Exact investment dates and instruments are unpublished; publication dates are not closing dates. SoundBoard Venture Fund and ERA publish WearWorks in their portfolios/company listings, and Remarkable’s2024 accelerator account identifies it among startups invested in. Those providers require full identity/profile verification before financial links. Partner-logo collages alone do not prove cash checks by Apple, Google, BMW, EY or every programme sponsor. Crowdfunding targets and cumulative interview estimates are not added as new closed rounds.
