Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. is a Pennsylvania corporate investment and holding company founded in 1953 and based in Radnor. It historically provided growth capital and operating expertise to technology businesses in healthcare, financial services and digital media, including artificial-intelligence healthcare software company Aktana. Since January 2018, it has focused on supporting and monetizing existing ownership interests to return value to shareholders rather than making investments in new companies. It delisted from Nasdaq in February 2024, qualified for OTCQX trading as SFES, and terminated SEC registration. Mark Dow became CEO, CFO and secretary in January 2024 through an outsourced Rock Creek Advisors engagement; a May 2026 issuer tax filing confirms his CFO role. It invests corporate capital rather than operating as a conventional externally raised venture fund.
