inPhocal develops laser-marking machines for industrial production lines. Its optical technology reshapes the laser beam to extend its useful focus range, allowing codes and markings to be applied to curved or irregular surfaces while products move through the line. Applications include expiry dates, traceability information and QR codes on food and beverage packaging, including cans and bottle crowns. The process removes the need for printing ink and is designed to reduce consumables and accommodate changing surface distances. inPhocal integrates its beam technology with machine engineering and controls for high-throughput marking; its published company timeline reports machines installed on customer production lines. INPHOCAL B.V. is based at High Tech Campus Eindhoven and was founded in 2019 from technology identified at CERN through the HighTechXL venture-building program.
