CogTx, legally Cognitive Therapeutics Pty Ltd (ABN 72 681 458 408; ACN 681 458 408), is a Melbourne medical technology spinout developing software to personalize transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Its technology uses MRI scans and advanced algorithms to identify individual brain-stimulation targets, aiming to simplify clinical planning and reduce reliance on costly mapping equipment. The software was co-invented by Bionics Institute researchers Kate Hoy, Oscar Murphy and David Hill. CogTx emerged from the strategic partnership between the Bionics Institute and Swinburne University of Technology, with Planet Innovation providing software-development expertise. Swinburne’s September 9, 2026 launch announcement confirms secured seed funding from Swinburne Ventures Ltd, Australian family offices and medtech entrepreneurs; neither the total amount nor the unnamed private investors’ identities are disclosed. Graeme Samuel chairs the company and Adam Seskis is a publicly named non-executive director. Kate Hoy is identified as chief scientific officer in ACMD’s current speaker biography. Development toward expected FDA approval and worldwide clinical deployment remains a future objective. Personalized TMS research for Alzheimer’s disease is investigational; general clinical use of TMS for other conditions does not establish approval of this software or efficacy in Alzheimer’s. The company is distinct from the US listed drug developer Cognition Therapeutics and from Cognito Therapeutics’ CogTx-001 sensory-stimulation device.
