Paul Conley leads Vertical Venture Partners’ deep-technology practice, investing at the intersection of physics, chemistry and biology. Before beginning his venture career in 2007, he modeled materials at Los Alamos and founded BrightScale and Appfluent Technology. He holds computational physics and bioengineering degrees from UC San Diego and a mechanical and aerospace engineering degree from the University of Virginia. ONI’s 2022 financing release separately names him as a private investor; his personal identity is not collapsed into VVP’s institutional participation.
