Pam Omidyar founded Hopelab, initially exploring whether a video game could improve treatment adherence among young people with cancer. That work led to the scientifically evaluated Re-Mission game. She remains a guiding figure at Hopelab and co-founded The Omidyar Group with Pierre Omidyar.
