Neshika Samarasekera
Neshika Samarasekera is a Consultant Neurologist with NHS Lothian and a Stroke Association Senior Clinical Lecturer and NHS Scotland Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Neuroscience and Cardiovascular Research. She is part of the Research to Understand Stroke due to Haemorrhage (RUSH) programme and leads research on the epidemiology, causes and long term consequences of spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage, including cerebral amyloid angiopathy, neuroinflammation, peri haematomal oedema and biomarkers. She combines neurology and stroke care with cohort studies and clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes after brain haemorrhage, and contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching.
