David Horsley leads Butterfly Embedded innovation, product strategy, partnerships and commercialization. Appointed in March 2026, he is also a Northeastern University professor and nanosystems researcher. He co-founded Chirp Microsystems, acquired by TDK in 2018, and previously served as chief technology officer for emerging sensors at TDK InvenSense. He holds a Berkeley mechanical-engineering doctorate and is an IEEE and National Academy of Inventors fellow.
