Viage Therapeutics

San Francisco Bay Area biotechnology company founded in 2018, formerly named Digestome Therapeutics, developing oral medicines that influence brain activity through the gut-brain axis. Its lead investigational drug DGX-001 acts on gut enteroendocrine cells to modulate the vagus nerve; the compound is intended to remain restricted to the gut rather than relying on systemic exposure or direct delivery to the brain. DGX-001 completed a healthy-volunteer Phase I study and the company is preparing a Phase II program for cognitive impairment across different diseases, including neurological and psychiatric conditions. Its pipeline includes neuropeptides, related peptides and small molecules for cognition, depression, anxiety and inflammatory disease. The technology is based on research by Kousaku Ohinata at Kyoto University. Clinical efficacy remains to be established.
