Vast Space
Vast, also known as Vast Space, builds commercial orbital habitats and space infrastructure for human spaceflight, microgravity research and in-space manufacturing. Its Haven-1 single-module station is under construction for a planned 2027 launch; the larger Haven-2 design is intended to support continuous human presence after the International Space Station. The company develops station structures, life support, power, docking and spacecraft systems in-house, using its flown Haven Demo satellite to test technology before deployment. It also offers high-power satellite buses and is developing lunar power, communications and habitat systems. Customers and collaborators include government space agencies, research organisations and commercial mission partners. Its longer-term artificial-gravity habitation and Moon and Mars programmes are development ambitions, rather than operating crewed stations. Founded in 2021 by Jed McCaleb, it is headquartered in Long Beach, California.
