Skin2Neuron develops regenerative cell therapies intended to replace neurons and rebuild synaptic connections lost in neurodegenerative disease. Its platform isolates, enriches and expands hair-follicle-derived neuroprecursor cells from a patient’s own skin; these naturally occurring cells can differentiate into neurons without genetic modification. Its lead program aims to deliver the cells into the hippocampus to treat Alzheimer’s disease. The company also develops customised neuronal cultures for research, disease modelling and drug testing, and explores applications in other neurological conditions. A University of Sydney spinout, Skin2Neuron has conducted rodent research and a veterinary trial in dogs with dementia. Its human therapy remains in development: a May2026 manufacturing agreement supports preparation for a planned first-in-human Phase1 trial in Australia, rather than an approved treatment. The legal company is Skin2Neuron Pty Ltd, also trading as S2N.
