Polar Semiconductor operates a U.S. semiconductor foundry in Bloomington, Minnesota, developing and manufacturing sensor, power and high-voltage silicon wafers. Its technologies include BCD, MOSFET, IGBT and gallium nitride for automotive, aerospace and defense, industrial and AI data center applications. For AI infrastructure, its power and sensor devices support voltage regulation, cooling, backup power and rack-level power distribution. Originating as Control Data in 1962, Polar became majority owned by Niobrara Capital and Prysm Capital following a $175 million equity financing closed in 2024 to expand domestic manufacturing.
