Pheno Therapeutics is an Edinburgh-based clinical-stage biotechnology company spun out from the University of Edinburgh, developing small-molecule therapies for neurodegenerative and demyelinating disorders. It targets oligodendrocyte biology and GPR17 antagonism to promote the nervous system’s natural remyelination processes, initially focusing on multiple sclerosis. Its investigational lead candidate PTD802 was licensed from UCB; UK clinical-trial authorisation in January2025 and US FDA IND clearance in June2026 enable first-in-human safety and tolerability studies. The company combines human phenotypic screening, stem-cell technology and myelin biology; clinical efficacy remains to be established.
