Octave Bioscience
Octave Bioscience is a Menlo Park, California precision-neurology company founded in 2014. It develops blood-based biomarker tests and analytical tools for neurodegenerative disease, beginning with multiple sclerosis. Its commercially available MS Disease Activity (MSDA) Test uses a panel of proteins and data models to provide clinicians with objective measures of disease activity. It is developing tests for MS progression and Parkinson’s disease; Parkinson’s research is supported by the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Doug Biehn is president and CEO, and founder William Hagstrom chairs the board. Disclosed financing includes USD2.5 million seed funding, USD14 million Series A in 2018, USD32 million Series B in 2020, an undisclosed strategic investment from Merck Global Health Innovation Fund in 2021, a USD30 million Series B extension in 2023 and USD35.6 million Series C equity financing in 2025. A separate USD15.5 million SVB term-loan agreement was announced with the Series C. Research grants and the loan commitment are distinguished from equity proceeds.
