Novoron Bioscience
Novoron Bioscience is a San Diego biotechnology company developing therapies for neurodegenerative disease and spinal cord injury using low-density lipoprotein receptor biology. Founded in 2014 by Travis Stiles and Shawn Gahr, it targets disease-related LRP1 signaling and protein interactions while seeking to preserve normal receptor functions. Its programs address tau and other protein propagation, neuronal repair and recovery after spinal cord injury. Novoron also develops human brain organoid screening tools, combining transcriptomic and AI-supported analyses to evaluate Alzheimer's disease drug candidates. Its leadership includes CEO and co-founder Travis Stiles, executive chairman David Weiner, COO and co-founder Shawn Gahr, drug discovery and translation specialists, and financial leadership. The company is supported by scientific and spinal cord injury advisory groups. Two Bear Capital led seed financings in 2021 and 2022. Its therapies remain investigational, and its Australian subsidiary Novoroo is pursuing preclinical NOVO-120 research for bladder dysfunction after spinal cord injury.
