Nanoflex Robotics
Glattbrugg, Opfikon, Zurich, Switzerland
Nanoflex Robotics AG is a Swiss ETH Zurich spin-off founded in2021 by Matt Curran, Bradley Nelson and Christophe Chautems. It develops the Remote Intervention System, combining a mobile electromagnetic field generator, ultra-flexible magnetically steerable guidewires and catheters, robotic advancement and a control console for endovascular procedures. Its longer-term neurovascular application is remote mechanical thrombectomy for ischemic stroke. Current development initially targets bedside peripheral vascular interventions, followed by control-room and teleoperated procedures. In2025 the company reported preclinical animal thrombectomy across the Atlantic and within Switzerland, plus porcine peripheral stenting; animal feasibility is distinct from human clinical efficacy. The European Commission’s current REACT project states clinical validation, regulatory approval and manufacturing readiness remain project objectives for2026–2028. The2023 first-in-human/FDA submission timetable was a plan, and ISO13485 quality-system certification does not establish device marketing approval. No current FDA clearance or CE marketing authorisation is established by the reviewed primary sources. The platform is described as AI-compatible and a Brainomix collaboration is developing AI-assisted navigation; the research partnership is not an investment. Public leadership includes CEO/co-founder Curran, mentor/co-founder Nelson, independent director Per Vegard Nerseth and CRO Chanel Allen-Megahey. Chautems announced his transition from CTO to non-executive director. A February2023 Series A secured an initial USD12million, led by Ascend Capital Partners with Kinled Holding and Mountain Labs. Innosuisse grants received in2023 comprised CHF2.5million and CHF400,000. A June2026 EIC blended-finance selection announced a EUR2.5million grant and EUR10million proposed equity; CORDIS later records a signed EUR2,498,971.85 REACT grant, while cash disbursement and equity closing remain unverified.
