Tokyo-based drug-discovery startup developing medicines based on sensory stimulation and the connection between the brain and peripheral organs. Its Sensory Medicine approach uses odor components to transmit signals to brainstem response centers through sensory and vagus nerves, with the aim of inducing protective physiological responses such as metabolic suppression, reduced inflammation and improved organ blood flow. Based on research at Kansai Medical University, the company is developing drug candidates intended to induce an artificial hibernation-like protective state for emergency medical conditions. Its research remains in early nonclinical development. Myrodia combines academic neuroscience with venture-backed drug development and pharmaceutical management expertise.
