MindAffect

MindAffect is a Dutch neurotechnology company developing objective hearing and vision assessments from automatic brain responses. Its Sofi Hearing Assessment System uses an EEG headset and its Rapid-CAEP cortical-response analysis technology to estimate frequency-specific hearing thresholds without requiring patients to speak, press a button or follow behavioral testing instructions. The approach is intended for children and people with communication or cognitive difficulties. MindAffect also develops KinderCap, KinderGaze and GLAM vision-assessment concepts using controlled visual stimuli, EEG and, in some designs, eye tracking. The company spun out of Radboud University’s Donders Institute with NLC in 2017. Its current site states that Sofi and Rapid-CAEP remain under development and are not certified for clinical diagnostic use. MindAffect reports FDA Breakthrough Device designation for Sofi in January 2026; this is a development pathway designation, not FDA marketing clearance.
