InventWood is a Maryland advanced-materials company commercialising SUPERWOOD, an engineered wood produced by modifying and densifying wood at the molecular level. Its process removes selected components, changes lignin and compresses the cellulose structure to create stronger, tougher and more durable boards and veneers while retaining wood’s natural grain and appearance. The company manufactures material in Frederick using domestic wood sources, initially serving interior and exterior architectural applications and developing structural, infrastructure and defence uses. Its materials platform aims to replace more energy-intensive building materials while storing the carbon absorbed by trees.
