AviadoBio
AviadoBio is a London-based clinical-stage gene therapy company founded in 2019 from research at King’s College London and the UK Dementia Research Institute. It develops targeted AAV genetic medicines for neurodegenerative and retinal diseases, combining precision delivery, gene supplementation, optogenetics and its vMiX RNA interference gene-silencing platform. Its pipeline includes investigational AVB-101 for frontotemporal dementia with GRN mutations and preclinical AVB-406 targeting MAPT/tau for Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies. Its research and development focus also includes retinitis pigmentosa and other retinal dystrophies. Astellas made a strategic equity investment alongside an option and license agreement for AVB-101 in 2024. These are development programs; reported preclinical results and clinical trial authorizations do not establish approved clinical efficacy.
