Agapyo

Agapyo is a Montreal materials company developing Jam, a wood-waste-derived thermoplastic designed to replace rigid petroleum plastics in agricultural and consumer products. Its reactive-extrusion process makes wood feedstock moldable on existing injection-molding equipment. The company describes the material as durable during use and biodegradable in the natural environment at end of life. It supplies and licenses its materials technology to manufacturers, with commercial pilots initially focused on horticultural planter pots and further applications including tree protectors and computer peripherals. Agapyo was developed with TandemLaunch and McMaster University researchers; its seed financing supports pilot commercialization, production capacity and engineering and commercial hiring.
