ALZpath
Carlsbad, California, United States
ALZpath is a Carlsbad, California neuroscience diagnostics company founded in 2020. Its proprietary antibody detects blood phosphorylated tau 217 (pTau217), a biomarker of Alzheimer’s pathology, and is licensed to diagnostic and research platforms including Roche, Beckman Coulter, Siemens Healthineers, Abbott, Alamar Biosciences and Quanterix. ALZpathDx is offered through Neurocode as a laboratory-developed test; ALZpath’s patient information states this LDT is not FDA-approved or cleared. Roche’s separate Elecsys pTau217 diagnostic received FDA clearance in August 2026, which does not confer clearance on every assay using the antibody. These are diagnostic tools, not Alzheimer’s medicines or stand-alone proof of future disease or treatment response. CEO Mike Banville leads a four-person executive team, supported by six directors and eight scientific advisers. Its founders include Jerre Stead, Eric Reiman and former CEO Venkat Shastri. The October 7, 2026 Quanterix agreement expands research-platform licensing, rather than announcing equity investment.
