Valence Discovery

Montreal, Canada

Valence Discovery was a Montreal AI drug-discovery company developing generative chemistry and low-data machine-learning methods to design new molecules rather than only score existing compounds. Recursion acquired all its outstanding equity on May 16, 2023 and launched Valence Labs in July 2023. The current Valence Labs research organization is Recursion’s AI research engine, using its automated experimental data and BioHive computing infrastructure to predict cellular responses to genetic and molecular perturbations, explain molecular interactions and generate and test therapeutic hypotheses in a lab-in-the-loop workflow. Its research includes virtual-cell models, the TxPert perturbation-prediction method and the OpenQDC collection of machine-learning-ready quantum datasets. It publishes open research and community resources; the historical startup and current Recursion research organization are documented together here.
